We were MV testing our new black Wensley girls this week! Maedi Visna (MV) is a viral condition with a long incubation period, so is usually seen in adult sheep when it is too late to act. It causes wasting, chronic mastitis, pneumonia, neurological and reproductive problems and so is not something we want in our flock! Testing for it also allows anyone buying sheep from us to know they are MV accredited. The quad bike trailor acts as a great taxi service from the field!!
Also check out the locks clipped from them to take the blood sample! We are very excited about these girls being shorn so we can get spinning and selling the fleece!
